What are suffix number plates?

Suffix registrations were used between 1963 and 1983. They follow the format of one to three letters, one to three numbers, then one letter — for example, ABC 123A. The final letter indicates the year of registration.

Suffix plates are older and rarer than prefix plates, sitting just above dateless in terms of prestige. Short suffix combinations are increasingly hard to find and tend to hold their value well.

Why choose a suffix plate?

🏛️
Classic Style

Suffix plates have a timeless look that suits classic and vintage vehicles perfectly. They look right at home on older British cars.

📈
Holds Its Value

Suffix plates are no longer issued, making them finite. Short and meaningful combinations become harder to find over time.

✏️
Personalisation Potential

Many suffix plates spell out names or initials in the letter section, with the final letter adding a personal initial or meaningful character.
